Whimsically Delicious

By Sonya

Have you ever given a lampshade a “makeover”?
I have this illness where I can’t seem to leave things in their original state.
Case in point…these lampshades.
This is what they look like now.
I Love them!
I redid these a while ago, so of course I don’t have a before pic but this is
very close to what they looked like before.
They were okay but nothing special.

I looked at those shades and thought “Why have I lived with this red for so long?”

It just wasn’t me.

So right then and there I ripped off all the red fabric with NO IDEA what I was going to replace it with!

YIKES!!!
But it all worked out and I love the end results.

Each of the fabrics had to be cut in a specific shape, sewn together and
lined with a semi blackout lining to allow the pattern to not disappear
when the lights were turned on.
The flower trim was easy…good ole hot glue!

“Whimsically Delicious!”
I’m happy now!

Indicated by the fact I haven’t ripped it off and started over!!!

Oh I love the mix of fabrics. And then the floral trim… My kind of decorating. Love it. Gotta ask, where did you find the trim?

Thank you CoopDeVilla! I have seen this trim at Hobby Lobby in other colors. But I THINK I got the green at Fabrics Unlimited in Oklahoma City. (It’s been a while!) Hope you find it!

Beautiful! I’d love to do that to some of my lamp shades but I know I’d rip off the original material and mess up. The next thing you know I’d be hiding a wire lamp shade form in the garbage and heading to Target for a new one! : ) I have loads of fabric scraps that would probably work good for this, too, so maybe I can practice on an extra shade.
