Today I’m sharing the process of piecing the panels together rather than a full fledged tutorial.
I began by deciding just how I wanted to divide the panels and use each fabric. The panels are divided approximately 2/3 and 1/3. I adjusted a little keeping in mind the orange horizontal band in the custom paint treatment.
The first step was the making the piping/cording. The piping borders the green band and is the finishing edge at the top of the panels.
These photos show you the progression of sewing the pieces together. I started at the bottom, with the orange dot, and worked my way up. Orange dot…cording…green band…cording…etc.
You could also sew the cording to the green band and then treat it as one piece. Either way is okay.
This was the completed look prior to sewing the lining to the panel. I ironed the piping where the seam allowances were facing each other.
