My sister-in-law Amanda is a natural born party planner. She has a gift for planning any event but she shines when it comes to parties.
When it came time to plan a baseball themed baby shower for my niece Libby…it was a grand slam! 🙂
A few weeks ago I flew to NC to visit my family. I was so excited when they scheduled the shower while I was there so I could participate!
The dining room table was all decked out with our baseball theme. We grabbed a navy blue sheet from my Mom’s linen closet and took the runner off her kitchen table to begin the process. In the background you can see the drink dispenser sitting on a red wood stool we also pilfered from the kitchen.
My sister-in-law Angie created the centerpiece by filling a glass jar with her son’s baseballs and making a “C for Cooper” pennant for the center. I asked her to bring a few extra balls and gloves to help decorate the table.
The beautiful momma-to-be.
Amanda asked me to make a veggie tray to resemble a baseball diamond. I’m sure there are other veggie choices that might have worked better but I used the veggies I knew we all liked. A large wood cutting board was used to display the vegetable baseball diamond.
Loosely interpreted – cucumbers = bases and pitcher’s mound, broccoli = outfield, celery = infield and grape tomatoes = the base line.
Squint. You’ll see it.
Amanda made the baseball sugar cookies. First time to make these and they were delicious!
She found the mini brownies at Sam’s and attached the baseball sugar candies with icing.
Angie made the chocolate covered strawberries using white chocolate and baby blue colored chocolate.
Amanda created a “Cooper’s Stats” board using a chalkboard easel for everyone to take a guess as to when Cooper will make his debut. This idea came from Modern Mindy via Pinterest.
Fresh popcorn in brown paper bags was served from vintage cola boxes.
Snacks for the road included baseball bubble gum and Cracker Jacks.
Amanda hand stitched white cardstock to create the sign.
Here’s a sneak peek of the pillow I made for baby Cooper using the same stitching.
Coming up next: ALL the details and a tutorial so you can make this pillow for your own little rookie!
While several of us helped pull the shower together, it was Amanda’s baseball themed vision that hit this shower out of the park!

Special thanks to my very patient husband for helping me dissect and describe a vegetable tray in baseball terms. Any incorrect usage of said terms would be entirely my fault. 🙂
