If you’re a fan of color and pattern you’re going to love the curtains and pillows we made for Stacey’s kitchen and family room.
Stacey fell in love with these whimsical home office curtains and wanted to incorporate the same sense of color and whimsy into her new curtains.
Drawing from our inspiration curtains we recreated the fun with a large scale black & white houndstooth, turquoise velvet, gold linen, red damask and 3 trims.
First we made the oversized black & white houndstooth into floor length window treatments for the family room.
Cafe curtains for the kitchen were made using the red linen damask as the body with an 8″ turquoise velvet cuff and a 2.5″ gold linen ruffle topped two different trims.
The turquoise & red beaded trim just didn’t quite look right with the gold ruffle by itself.
Layering the beaded trim with a red & gold flat trim pulled the three colors & fabrics together beautifully. The turquoise velvet leans more towards a green turquoise than blue though it may read differently in some of these photos.
We repeated the houndstooth on two 20″ feather pillows with 3″ turquoise velvet ruffles.
After matching the pattern repeat on the cafe curtains I only had remnants left over of the red damask. Not enough for a solid pillow top.
I was able to piece together the remnants to create a completely different look. In fact, I like doing this even when it’s not a necessity because I like the look so much. It’s a great look for this linen.
We loved this tiny turquoise & red flat trim that matched our color scheme perfectly but wasn’t right for the cafe curtains.
Making this 17″x24″ pillow to include a small 1.5″ self flange gave me the perfect place to use it.
Here you can see Stacey’s beautiful living room. The kitchen cafe’s will eventually hang in the windows to the left just behind her cute turquoise chairs. The gorgeous rug helps tie all the bright and whimsical fabrics and patterns together.
A beautiful room for a beautiful family!
