A White Vintage/Modern Kitchen Before & After

I’m so excited to finally share my daughter Courtney’s kitchen renovation with you! It’s been a long time coming but definitely worth the wait.

When Courtney and Drew purchased their 1927 home, in a historic neighborhood in Oklahoma City, the kitchen had nothing to recommend itself except the size.

All the charming details you see today, the eclectic mix of vintage and modern, was brought to life during the renovation.
Several weeks ago Courtney was contacted by Jen Snow of Edible OKC magazine asking if she could feature Courtney’s kitchen in their magazine. The amazing photos you see here were taken by her husband Aaron Snow Photography.  Jen and Courtney met through Instagram!

In this before/during photo you can see where the upper cabinets were removed to make room for open shelving.
The door to the right leads to the basement.
The room where you see the red ladder was a large half bath that was also home to a rickety elevator! A very strange sight for a house this size.

The original opening was a standard door for access from the kitchen with a matching door opposite (seen above) that led to the living room.

The elevator was removed and a new wall installed dividing the space in half. The kitchen side of the old bath, with it’s new, larger opening, became the laundry room.

Double, glass paned doors, were installed giving Courtney plenty of access to the washer and dryer as well as taking advantage of the light coming through the laundry room window.  

Open, rustic wood shelves were installed in place of upper cabinets. The Silestone countertops are called Lagoon. A beautiful look-alike alternative to marble without the maintenance of marble.

All the cabinets were painted a fresh white and a subway tile backsplash installed. 

The room just to the left is the dining room.

Originally, this wall ended where the right side of the counter ends.

The upper portion of this wall was removed to open the kitchen to the dining room creating a larger peninsula that’s perfect for serving as well as eating. A sleek, stainless steel hood was installed above the range.

Wood floors throughout the home were sanded and refinished during the renovation. The kitchen floor was beyond repair so a new wood floor was installed and stained to match the existing floor.

Of course, I was a ready sounding board to bounce her ideas off, but Courtney knew the look she wanted and did an amazing job choosing the products and finishes for her kitchen.
