Once Upon a Time…
I painted our living room pink. Looking back, I wouldn’t say it was my best idea.
As a young wife and stay-at-home mom, I was so eager to decorate our home I was constantly brainstorming ideas. The problem was a lack of practical DIY skills to carry out these ideas. My solution? Figure out how to do things myself.
I painted. Every room in the house. Numerous times.
I borrowed a sewing machine and started making simple projects like pillows. Even though I made more mistakes than I can count I realized I loved it.
And I’m still sewing all these years later!
I even hung wallpaper and can tell you…from experience…stripes are NOT the best choice for a beginner.
It was intimidating attempting these things the first time but the point is I tried. I tried and I failed and I tried again. And you know what? With each project my confidence increased and my skill improved.
To this day, I cherish the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes from creating things myself. You will too. All it takes is the desire to try.
